flaw in floating
The Sunday gentle & restorative class is such a rejuvenating way to start my week off. The instructor is the Morgan Freeman of yoga classes narrating through the movements, the inhales and exhales, the battle between focus and distraction, and the challenges of living a life with intentionality instead of one constantly seeking "the next" as she so eloquently phrased it today.
The full class and I laid down on our backs facing our wall space to start class. The yogi narrator instructs us to place our feet firmly on the wall with heels on the mat.
"We often move freely throughout our days, and in this season of renewal and birth there are constant distractions from one day to the next."
I inhale a deep breath filling up my belly expanding my lower back onto the mat. Feet pressed almost gripping the wall feeling strength. I exhale slowly through my nose.
"In this spring season the winds moving around us can cause the winds within our spirit to move around as well."
Winds. Winds of change have been swirling inside me for what feels like days and weeks on end. I continue to steady my breath, slowly inhaling and slowly exhaling.
"Feel the stability of the wall against your feet. Grounding yourself."
In order to fight against the winds, the unexpected, you must root yourself. We feel like the world is constantly working against us, but we have the power to hold steady and stabilize ourselves in our roots against the elements. Ground yourself.
