time travel
One of my favorite things about being on the mat is that the rest of the world no longer exists and you have found your way into a separate world where time is infinite and the limitations and expectations of the outside world are not a priority; they aren't even on your mind. Instead, things like gratitude, reflection, growth, and overcoming challenges are all your priorities, and depending on the day one may be more than another. But nothing is more important, it is just up to your state to decide. There is not pressure nor judgement. Like I said, another world.
Yes, I understand that the world still rips and roars outside of the tranquil environment of the studio. But I don't feel the weight of its movements. The everything else does not matter in that 75 minutes. It can all be addressed afterwards. My thoughts are focusing on my state and how to enhance it.
Tonight's deep stretch class has quickly become a favorite. Not only does it feature the sunflower instructor (who now has purple hair - I miss having colored hair...), but it also uses some tools like the strap and the lacrosse balls to work into the tight and tough spots you sometimes can't reach into in order to stretch and massage to release built up tension.
I'm not sure if I'm sick or just in an allergy funk. Yesterday I couldn't cool down, today my brother said I was ice cold while we ate lunch at Chic Fil A. In addition to my physical oddities, I've had several things in my past pop up. It's like all at once there's this attempt from before that tries to create a place in your present and future when it has already been decided that it would not.
I wonder what it would be like if we all focused on the present. This moment we have. And treasure it. Place value on the now - not that you neglect the future or ignore the lessons and experiences of the past. Today is of such importance that it should not be wasted.
