unexpected twist

My Saturday was outlined by the schedule of Yogafest, an all day 7 AM - 7 PM event that I discovered through my rocker yogi girlfriend's facebook feed. We were not about to go that early in the morning - hell to the no, so I met her at around noon and jumped into her jetta.

Neither of us are too worried about getting there (Richardson) in a rush as there are a list of courses for the afternoon, so many courses that we just knew we would get our zen on and find some new ways to balance our bodies, minds, and souls.

I don't even know how to put into words the disappointment of the event. The two of us were in shock. It had the best of intentions, I am sure, and I think it helped some people, but it was not true in the description of the event.

Despite the catastrophe of the event, I had a total blast with my rockstar friend. I don't know the last time I laughed that much and tried so hard to find the silver lining, but was okay when I couldn't.

I think that sometimes we create a perfect image of something in our heads, and it so rarely pans out that way. We have several options:

1. Hold onto the let down or frustration.

2. Take it for what it was, and move forward.

Needless to say, we did not stay for the entire afternoon schedule. We jetted out of there and back to good ol Funky Town where she introduced me to Melt - some uniquely flavored and delicious ice cream. We moved forward.

It's a lesson I am still learning in the personal areas of my life - the whole move forward when someone goes out of their way to hurt you. How we make decisions is constantly evolving as we evolve. If we are not careful, the decisions of others will become the decisions of ourselves.
