acting on ambition
Today's mellow yoga class that offers intense long-lasting poses required each of us to have three blankets. We almost never have more than one, so it was just a shock for us to need two blocks, two bolsters, and three blankets! The warm-toned instructor even started off class reviewing the props and commenting that he's usually a minimalist with props, but today we were all in need of three blankets.
We used all three blankets throughout class and even started in a pose with two bolsters and three blankets that I had never done before. There is a respect I feel for people who try new things and are unafraid to encourage others in that train of thought.
Too often we compare ourselves to others' success and use it as a ranking system of our own ambition. As if you can achieve enough checks on a list of societal successes, then settle into a routine. But that mindset is merely existing and not living.
I believe in the importance of striving for growth within the world you operate while also seeking new worlds so expand into and communities to share your unique gifts and talents. Ambition is an emotion that you can use to further your ability to positively influence others, and as that emotion one can be stretched to achieve greatness that they may never had imagined.
