As August rolls in, us teachers have to start facing the facts that the official summer time is ending. There is a feeling of doom but also excitement.

Summer 2017 has been filled with a lot of growth I had no idea was coming. It's funny how that happens. One day, you're just rolling along and the next day you look back at some goals you've set and now you are soaring past them and placing new goals that you never even imagined for yourself.

I realize now that setting goals is a risk. When you set the goal, you are claiming that you will do everything in your power to achieve the goal. Anything less and you have actively failed yourself. Of course you may not reach the goal in the way that you originally predicted - that is possible, but different from just straight up quitting.

It is important to set goals that provide your vision with a tangible focal point. Goals that come from your inner core are the most powerful and truth.

The upcoming school year is going to be filled with new faces, new schedules, new colleagues, new expectations, new challenges and new goals. That's to be expected. There are some changes that I anticipate in my personal life that will bring brand new goals I've never faced before.

I thank yoga for the lessons of this summer, for the opportunity of loose structure, and for opening of my heart so that I could find the place I am currently in and able to transition through this upcoming fall and winter.
